The Hotel del Coronado is pleased to welcome island-favorite MooTime Creamery to the resort! "We were searching for a one-of-a-kind classic, and we found it right outside our door," says Michael J. Hardisty, Managing Director. "Now we are thrilled to be able to offer our guests and the local community, the best ice cream in San Diego."

Owner, David Spatafore, is excited to open his third store in San Diego (his second in Coronado). The first, located in the village on orange Avenue, has been adored by children and adults alike for several years. There is always a line out the door.

Spatafore, a Coronado native, began his career working for a large dairy producer. His job allowed him to travel throughout the world tasting different ice creams! David took his favorite features from each of the stores he visited and combined them with a unique element of fun to create MooTime Cramery!

MooTime Creamery starts with the freshest products. Using the finest ingredients from all over the world, the store makes ice cream and yogurt from scratch in its own Micro-Creamery in Coronado. The fun '50s style parlor, complete with stainless steel and sock-hop music, provides a great atmosphere. Then comes the really entertaining part! Cold, granite slabs serve as counter tops, as well as, the medium for creating personalized, do-it-yourself flavor combinations. Choose between a huge number of candies, fruits, nuts, baked goods and more, add your favorite "base" ice cream and watch as MooTime staff members begin "mixing, smooshing, smashing, folding and flipping" your creation.

Fresh homemade waffle cones complete the ultimate ice cream experience.

MooTime's new store will open April 15, 2001 and will be located west of the main Lobby entrance (next to Babcock and Story Bakery).
